Manassas is known for many things: Civil War history, charming Old Town, being a growing Northern Virginia hub. But what often gets overlooked is Manassas’ quietly thriving American food scene. From classic diners and modern gastropubs to farm-to-table spots and family-run institutions, this town serves up authentic Americana. Whether you’re craving comfort food, celebrating a milestone, or exploring local flavors, here are the best American restaurants in Manassas.
Glory Days Grill
$ | (703) 361-9040 | WEBSITE

A longtime Manassas tradition and staple, Glory Days Grill is at the top of the pack when it comes to American comfort food in Northern Virginia. From chicken wings with dry rubs to perfectly cooked steak, Glory Days has it all—even serving homemade blue cheese as a socially acceptable option for dipping. Our favorite experience (and the one with the most charm) will always be the original, inside a welcoming neighborhood spot with that friendly local vibe.
But they’ve gotten their formula down with servers like Michael and Taylor who are spot on, respectful, and make guests feel happy and welcomed, while managers like Alex are attentive and talk to all tables, dressed professionally. Definitely a place to come back with family.
Old Towne Sports Pub
$ | (703) 369-1782 | WEBSITE

If you don’t know, now you know—Old Towne Sports Pub is, and always will be a Manassas favorite for game-day gatherings. The buffalo chicken wrap is what this place is known for, but if you’re not quite ready to tackle what is probably the world’s messiest drippy taco, everything is good here—particularly the stuff that comes with a solid pour. If you haven’t caught a game here, then you haven’t partaken in one of Manassas’s greatest pastimes.
House of Philly
$ | (703) 393-1590 | WEBSITE

House of Philly is a Manassas mainstay that’s been serving up exceptional American comfort food for years. We’re big fans of the cheesesteak here, made with thinly sliced ribeye and melted provolone. Get the Supreme Philly, with sautéed peppers and onions, as well as the super-crispy pizza that defies all the laws of takeout expectations. And don’t miss the unique gyro quesadilla, here made with seasoned lamb and feta.
The portions are generous, the service is friendly, and the whole experience feels like discovering a hidden gem—just be sure to check their hours before you go.
Ashton Family Restaurant
$ | (703) 330-5151 | WEBSITE

Ashton Family Restaurant is a popular spot for a family meal, known for its outstanding food and friendly staff. Check out all the breakfast options, like the ABC omelette with hash browns and pancakes or sausage gravy with biscuits, before you place your order and settle into the laid-back, informal atmosphere. The best options here are in the breakfast category, like the shrimp and fries or fish and chips, which come in large portions made with quality ingredients.
The service is quick, and the waiters are very kind and patient, especially when helping guests decide on their orders. While some minor adjustments, like adding more salt to the hash browns or improving the sausage in the breakfast burrito, could enhance the experience, overall it provides great food and excellent service in a relaxed setting, making it a satisfying place for a meal.
Don Jose’s Kitchen
$ | (571) 208-0182 | WEBSITE

After establishing a reputation for exceptional family-style dining in Manassas, Don Jose’s Kitchen has become a local favorite for those seeking quality American comfort food. Now, instead of searching for a reliable spot with consistent service and clean surroundings, you have access to one of the best dining experiences in the area seven days a week.
The atmosphere is clean and inviting, with Christian worship music playing softly in the background, though the spacious interior can feel a bit cavernous with an echo-like sound. The service is commendable, with attentive staff providing excellent and personable attention. Try the family barbecue or jambalaya if you’re looking for hearty mains, or get the calamari appetizer followed by the amazing chocolate cake with Tres Leches and caramel filling from the bakery.
The presentation of each plate is exceptional, appearing like a work of art, though the leavened flour tortillas and refried black beans may not suit everyone’s preference. The restrooms are notably clean, reflecting the kitchen’s high standards. In summary, Don Jose’s Kitchen offers great food, quality service, and a pleasant ambiance, making it a highly recommended dining experience.
Tom’s Diner
$ | (703) 361-7474 | WEBSITE

Tucked away in Manassas with that classic retro vibe, Tom’s Diner is perfect for those mornings when you want to ease into the day without any fuss. Really savor that first cup of coffee and settle into a cozy booth—especially when you’re craving something simple and satisfying. Food-wise, there’s everything from crispy bacon and scrambled eggs to the surprisingly delightful Steak & Cheese, and you really can’t go wrong here.
Monza
$$ | (703) 368-5522 | WEBSITE

A delightful restaurant in Manassas, Monza is just as easy on the vibe as it is good for the taste buds. Serving up fantastic options like the French Toast with eggs over easy, the flatbread pizza, and the Capellini with meatballs, Monza’s menu might not be the most extensive, but what they do, they do very well (our go-to is the flatbread pizza).
The staff is amazing, awesome, and incredibly personable—servers like Joseph and Brodette provide excellent service and great recommendations, though service can sometimes be slow. The environment at the bar is terrific, with a good crowd and a cozy, industrial-chic décor featuring exposed brick and warm lighting, making it a nice place to catch up with friends over reasonably priced dishes (most entrees around $18-$24).
However, it’s best to avoid weekend nights when live bands play, as the noise level can be overwhelming. If you need a spot for a casual meal with lovely people, Monza would be perfect.
Bob & Edith’s Diner – Manassas Corner
$ | (703) 420-2240 | WEBSITE

Breakfast and late-night meals are the specialty at Bob & Edith’s Diner, featuring a range of classic, comforting American diner dishes, like their tasty omelette and hot fudge sundae—all served with a side of friendly, welcoming service. Grab a seat at the cozy counter and settle into the comfortable, clean atmosphere of this popular Manassas spot. For a quick bite, order the hot fudge sundae to satisfy that sweet craving.
Otherwise, grab a breakfast plate (available around the clock), and find out why people drive from nearby areas for what many consider the best breakfasts in Northern VA.
Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and Brews
$ | (703) 330-5333 | WEBSITE

With its elevated takes on classic American comfort food (think smoke n pepper burger, bottomless root beer float, and endless fries), Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and Brews is one of the better spots in Manassas for a satisfying meal. The atmosphere of the place is also extremely inviting, so you’ll be greeted with a clean, welcoming space along with your first bottomless side.
Sit back and enjoy the friendly service as the bartender Matt crafts your drink and the rest of the staff like Brenda, Zack, and Lena ensure your needs are met.
Yorkshire Restaurant
$ | (703) 368-4905 | WEBSITE

Yorkshire is the go-to spot for all things home-style if you’re a breakfast lover or enjoy eating like one sometimes. The down home cooking is one of our favorite experiences and usually draws a crowd of regulars, which is just another reason to visit this place early (though if you’re running late, they also serve breakfast all day). The pleasant atmosphere with exceptional hospitality is also great motivation to make this your regular dining destination.
LongHorn Steakhouse
$$ | (703) 361-5440 | WEBSITE

LongHorn Steakhouse has been serving Manassas since it first opened its doors, quickly becoming a go-to destination for those craving hearty American fare. It consistently draws crowds from across the region for their steakhouse classics and welcoming group atmosphere. First, take a moment to appreciate the warm, rustic setting. Next, dive into their menu and decide which perfectly cooked steak will satisfy that carnivorous craving—this is comfort food at its most reliable.
Foster’s Grille
$ | (703) 257-7272 | WEBSITE

In a town full of predictable burger joints, Foster’s Grille dares to be genuine—it’s unapologetically classic. That straightforward charm enhances the cheese fries, which are already a perfect mix of crispy and melty. Conveniently located with ample parking, this family-friendly spot gets bustling on the weekends, so plan ahead and dig into their reliable dishes like the burgers (praised by one regular as ‘the best’ they’ve had anywhere).
If you’re lucky, catch a booth by the speakers, where the great oldies soundtrack won’t be drowned out by the cheerful chatter of families enjoying the clean, welcoming atmosphere.
Columbus Grill
$$ | (703) 330-3001 | WEBSITE

The offerings at Columbus Grill are straightforward—appetizers at each table, a few main dishes, and desserts like the fresh and wonderful Crème Brûlée included. This is a welcoming spot to enjoy a nice dinner or celebrate events in Manassas. Try the Linguine Terra Mar—it comes with seafood and savory sauce—and an order of Pasteis de Bacalhau Fried Codfish. You can even book the beautiful banquet room and turn that dinner into a Sweet 16 party or wedding reception.
Philadelphia Tavern
$ | (703) 393-1776 | WEBSITE

There aren’t a ton of things that almost everyone in Manassas universally agrees on, but if any statement were to cross all party lines and gain universal support, it’s that Philadelphia Tavern makes the best damn cheesesteaks in town. Come here first thing at lunch—either to fuel up for an afternoon downtown, or to recover from a morning of errands—and make your way through the cozy old-pub-like spot to enjoy some of Manassas’ finest sandwiches.
Make sure to grab one of their great hoagies, or hop over to the beautiful bar for an evening pick-me-up (we like the beer battered fish and chips).
Logan’s Roadhouse
$$ | (703) 369-0244 | WEBSITE

The steak at Logan’s Roadhouse is to Manassas what a classic burger is to the Midwest—comfort food, and a part of our dining identity that we get oddly protective about. If we had to send one dish from Virginia to compete in some kind of national comfort food championship, we’d pick Logan’s. The steaks are large and well-cooked, the buns are hot and delicious, and the chicken sandwich is a standout.
The next time you want to satisfy that craving for something hearty that isn’t overly fussy, head to this welcoming spot with its attentive servers like Jasmine and Tasha.
Battle Street Bistro
$$ | (703) 369-7501 | WEBSITE

With a straightforward name like Battle Street Bistro, you might expect to wander into this historic-area spot for standard American fare. Instead, it’s home to a delightful menu of reimagined classics, like Shrimp & Grits, Vermont French Toast, and Greek Eggs that will satisfy your cravings better than anything at a typical chain.
Start with the fizzy cucumber mint lemonade—it’s pretty much the reason you’re here—then round out the meal with the standout dishes and a dirty martini on the rooftop.
Public House Kitchen & Brewery
$$ | (571) 292-1427 | WEBSITE

A beer and a burger really can’t be considered a real tavern experience. Unless you’re talking about a beer from Public House Kitchen & Brewery—specifically the Public House Winter Amber Lager. This brew is not only smooth, but also incredibly flavorful, and worthy of any evening that deserves a real treat. If you’re looking for something on the more savory side, they also do a great salmon entree.
Great American Buffet
$ | (703) 369-6791 | WEBSITE

Great American Buffet in Manassas is a reliable spot for a straightforward meal during the week, with its clean environment and friendly service making it easy to grab lunch or an early dinner. But on the weekends, it transforms. The slightly longer lines are justified, particularly if you’re craving their standout fried chicken or the made-to-order omelets that draw crowds.
You could opt for takeout, but that means missing the welcoming, kid-friendly atmosphere and the self-serve taco section that might explain why the dining area gets a bit lively. With reasonable prices and ample parking, it’s a favorite for families and regulars alike.
