Coral Gables wakes with the scent of Cuban coffee and the clatter of silverware on porcelain. Between the historic Mediterranean facades and those impossible-to-read street signs, morning rituals unfold in hidden courtyards and sun-drenched patios. We’ve chased sunrise past Venetian Pool and remember when breakfast was just café con leche and a guava pastry—let us guide you to the best morning meals in The City Beautiful. Your day starts here.
Bacon Bitch
$$ | (888) 422-2660 | WEBSITE

Don’t get distracted by the fact that the music is thumping and the decor is dripping with style in Bacon Bitch’s vibrant dining room. No, the sizzling pans of bacon and plates full of maple sliders deserve to be the focal point. The breakfast spot in Miami is a great option for brunch—that’s when dishes like those signature sliders and classic breakfast sandwiches are just $15. But it’s also a wonderful celebration spot for sharing bottle service and festive platters.
Just make sure you order anything that comes with their house bacon (thankfully, that’s just about everything). These crispy, smoky strips are perfectly rendered and caramelized on the edges. We’d come back just for more bacon.
We We’s Bakery & Bistro
$ | (305) 305-8380 | WEBSITE

We We’s Bakery & Bistro is pretty much the most perfect casual breakfast spot that a hungry person in Coral Gables could ask for. This welcoming place feels more like a cozy neighborhood kitchen than your average rushed bakery. The croissants are excellent and so is the food, which includes hearty breakfast plates, fresh baguette sandwiches, and really tasty pastries—which is what you want to get here.
The self-titled We We’s Breakfast is a safe choice and comes with two eggs, bacon, potatoes, and a choice of Belgian waffle or pancakes. Just know that they have their own parking in the rear, so don’t worry about finding a spot.
Micocos
$ | (786) 741-9058 | WEBSITE

Before it became a Douglas Road fixture in Coral Gables, the team behind Micocos perfected their approach to breakfast classics with a welcoming neighborhood touch. Now, it’s a cozy spot that doubles as a morning haven and serves comforting everything: omelets, empanadas, and coffee. The restaurant expanded into the adjacent patio space, which added about 15 seats (most of which are part of a charming outdoor seating area).
They don’t take reservations, but it’s worth dropping by for their Western Omelet and Spinach Empanada. The empanada is (of course) crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside with a moist and tasty filling. In fact, everything here feels made with care. The omelet is satisfyingly hearty with fresh ingredients, peppers, and melted cheese on a plate that soaks up all the morning sunshine.
Olé
$$ | (305) 577-1000 | WEBSITE

This InterContinental hotel restaurant—bathed in the warmest morning light you’ve ever enjoyed—is a great choice for a family’s first expensive Sunday brunch. The two-hour meal is a delicious demonstration of the reasons one pays $50 for a breakfast buffet. The spread is a generous mix of mostly classic breakfast items. The buffet always includes an omelet station with attentive staff that will ensure you never look at a scrambled egg the same way again.
But Olé also does enough to impress a brunch veteran, particularly one looking for a more traditional meal that doesn’t lean too heavily on trendy ingredients and gimmicky presentations.
Fiore Caffe Miami
$$ | (786) 558-5152 | WEBSITE

This is the Swiss Army knife of breakfast spots. It’s not quite a fine dining brunch, but it scratches that itch if you’re craving perfectly delicious mimosas and Nutella pancakes. If you want more of a hearty meal, they’ve got large portions like chicken & waffles and steak that’ll fill you up like a plush toy. And regardless of whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or settling in for a leisurely brunch, service is going to be fast, friendly, and attentive.
Is a Swiss Army knife more expensive than a basic tool? Absolutely, but Fiore Caffe Miami is serving fresh, made-to-order food in a charming, stylish environment suitable for lots of occasions. It’s hard to find a restaurant like that in Coral Gables.
Walter’s Coffee Shop by Sergio & Pho-Kaholic “PHO Vietnamese Soups
$ | (305) 232-1235 | WEBSITE

Walter’s Coffee Shop, now featuring Pho-Kaholic Vietnamese Soups, remains a bustling spot where breakfast always includes generous portions and family-friendly energy. It’s why parents like it, but also why you should try it if you’re very tired of overpriced brunch spots. It’s one of the most affordable breakfast joints in Coral Gables thanks to simple wooden tables and morning light that turns busy mornings into calm beginnings.
Walter’s chicken tenders and waffles are well-cooked and meaty, but the highlight of this dish is the crispy batter that needs to be on every bite. Then there’s the traditional Pho noodles you could enjoy for hours, which is served in a clean, quiet environment. For a quick meal, go with the fast, kindly service.
Las Palmas Restaurant
$ | (305) 373-1333 | WEBSITE

Las Palmas is the Cuban breakfast counterpart to Miami’s more polished brunch spots, but this place does a great job at feeling genuinely unpretentious. Menus are simple, you might hear lively salsa music in the background, and the meals don’t break the bank. Still, there’s a cherished local quality to Las Palmas. It’s tucked away in downtown and has a cozy dining area that hits that perfect balance between welcoming and no-frills.
The food is consistently excellent—but the Steak Sandwich (Pan Con Bistec) is the standout item on the menu, and if the freshly squeezed orange juice is available (it varies), order it. It’s guaranteed to shift the table’s conversation to the topic of how unbelievably good the orange juice is.
Cafe Branca
$ | (786) 353-2100 | WEBSITE

It’s impossible to talk about Cafe Branca without mentioning the almond croissants, whose buttery layers have warmed the neighborhood since it opened. But that spirit of quality is still there. At this cozy little spot, you’re treated with genuine care, whether you’re a regular or not—but if you are, service is so attentive they probably remember your coffee order. Our favorite item is the ham and cheese empanada.
It’s always fresh and soft, just like the almond croissant that pairs perfectly with it. The cafe has a lovely atmosphere: intimate seating with warm lighting and a charming brick wall. It’s a delightful escape—with cozy corners and comfortable chairs—but a welcome one that makes your table feel private for good conversation.
Vanilla
$ | (305) 902-7972 | WEBSITE

By now, most of Miami has discovered the simple pleasure of a morning at Vanilla. But their Coral Gables location amplifies everything: the space feels twice as cozy, and the pastry case should drop the “case” because it’s enormous. The cafe is a touch more refined, with warm cream walls, plush velvet chairs, and dark wood floors. None of the beloved classics have changed, but the coffee tastes even richer here.
You order at the counter, grab a number, find a seat, and they’ll deliver your order to you. Much like its downtown sibling, the place is constantly buzzing and for good reason. We named Vanilla one of the best breakfast spots in Coral Gables, and that’s absolutely still the case for this location.
Crema Gourmet Espresso Bar Dadeland
$ | (305) 728-0555 | WEBSITE

You will stare at every one of Crema Gourmet Espresso Bar Dadeland’s drinks the way Ryan Gosling stares at his co-star in the emotional climax of a romantic comedy. Just about everything here is delicious. The iced mocha is perfectly smooth, and the peanut butter protein shake with its rich, creamy texture is great too. There are some excellent non-drink items as well. Specifically, the almond croissant.
It’s a flaky pastry covered by a generous layer of almond filling, with just the right amount of sweetness and a perfect crunch. This place also has lots of cozy indoor seating where you can sink into wing-back chairs and leather couches while watching a steady stream of regulars and friendly staff, including Sandra, the manager, who always makes you feel welcome.
Angelina’s
$ | (786) 494-9623 | WEBSITE

Angelina’s in Coral Gables is a breakfast spot—a real breakfast spot, where the focus is entirely on the quality of the dishes listed on a simple menu, and the friendly staff greet you like a cherished friend returning home. Between bites, your plate will tell the story of a good morning—with creamy avocado from the hearty breakfast sandwich, a dusting of sugar-free vanilla from the well-prepared latte, and flakes of the out of this world almond croissant.
You’re coming here for a leisurely, satisfying, and casual meal—which you’ll get whether you order the substantial $12 breakfast sandwich or a perfectly prepared latte for $5. Sit in the pleasant glow of Angelina’s clean and beautiful space and be sure to finish an indulgent breakfast or brunch with the almond croissant that’s flaky, buttery, and served on a simple white plate.
Sunny Side Cafe & Eatery
$$ | (305) 464-0743 | WEBSITE

Sunny Side Cafe & Eatery knows exactly what the Coral Gables morning crowd wants: to feel like the most important people starting their day, but not at the cost of an overpriced and underwhelming breakfast. It offers a welcoming atmosphere and a diverse menu that caters to any taste. So expect servers like Angela and German to bring you excellent coffee and provide friendly service with attentiveness and hospitality. But Sunny Side impresses most with its unique takes on classic breakfast dishes.
Go for flavorful eggs Benedict, dulce de leche pancakes that taste like dessert for breakfast, and a blueberry compote French toast everyone wants on their side of the table. The beautiful plants next door enhance the serene setting, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy a meal on the clean and delightful patio. Prices are also considered great, adding to the overall positive experience.
First Watch
$ | (786) 605-5050 | WEBSITE

First Watch is very much its own character. It hums when the breakfast rush hits, and the tables fill when the morning sun rises. It’s alive—with energy and appetite. And also maple bacon. Their very solid kitchen serves power bowls, vegetarian options, and that standout maple bacon with both quick service and friendly staff.
It’s a lovely spot to fuel up with a quinoa bowl, mint chocolate chip coffee, and a good meal—or a great place to start your day while you attempt to absorb energy through sheer portion size. They have an amazing selection of breakfast classics, complete with cramped but cheerful seating, so you can pretend you’re a bustling city dweller sliding your way from spectacular food to very filling plates after you wait. Also, check out their atmosphere for consistently loud but popular breakfast vibes.
Caffè & Bottega
$ | (786) 420-2125 | WEBSITE

Caffè & Bottega is a quintessential neighborhood breakfast spot. If your morning routine involves a white rock-lined street in the Gables, you’ll probably run into familiar faces here. But it’s worth the drive if you’re not a local. Caffè & Bottega’s menu—tasty and healthy—is not beholden to breakfast boredom. Egg, ham and cheese croissants, veggie omelettes, avocado toast, pancakes, and waffles are all roommates here.
It’s breakfast, brunch, and a solid start wrapped up neatly on one menu, which makes it perfect for someone who has no idea when they’ll be able to roll out of bed. All that, plus a warm and inviting dining room that feels like the breakfast nook of a friend with impeccable taste in coffee and croissants.
