Cocktail bars often feel like temples to mixology, with bartenders who treat each shake as a sacred ritual. But sometimes you want a place where the drinks dazzle and the food doesn’t play second fiddle—where you’ll watch a bartender torch rosemary for your old fashioned while your steak sizzles nearby. Whether celebrating a promotion or just craving a night where every sip feels like an event, these Bay Shore spots deliver both liquid artistry and serious sustenance.
Seaside Sally’s Shack
$ | (631) 647-9293 | WEBSITE

Seaside Sally’s Shack’s $20 wings with dry rub should be on your Bay Shore family dining bucket list. Kids splash in the water park sprinklers, the staff keeps frozen drinks flowing, and you won’t even have to worry about keeping the little ones entertained. But if you just drive by and glance at the waterfront, this Bay Shore cornerstone looks like a somewhat livelier version of your average family-friendly shack.
Of course, most of them don’t serve phenomenal dry-rub wings, fantastic frozen cocktails, or live music on weekends with a stunning water view. Come here with a family who likes wearing flip-flops to fun dinners.
Coastal Kitchen & Daiquiri Bar
$$ | (631) 665-3030 | WEBSITE

The number of casual cocktail bars in Bay Shore seems to multiply every week. But Coastal Kitchen & Daiquiri Bar has a few distinctions in the laid-back dining landscape. First, there’s the setting. This place is located in a charming spot with a cozy ambiance, where you’ll relax in low lighting, enjoy the nice outdoor seating area, and eventually settle into their intimate atmosphere.
The $25 margaritas also stand out from their peers, mainly through their dedication to serving refreshing drinks. If you’re more likely to be impressed by the chance to try a frozen Irish coffee than by a standard cocktail, get Coastal Kitchen & Daiquiri Bar on your list.
Cherry’s On The Bay
$$ | (631) 597-7859 | WEBSITE

Waterfront dining often feels predictable. Not at Cherry’s On The Bay. This Fire Island spot offers a $25 burger and $14 cocktails, so you’ll always know you’re getting straightforward fun without breaking the bank. But we’ll tell you with certainty that the atmosphere will turn anyone into a sunset chaser. Imagine a drag show with a bay breeze or celebrating a bachelorette party with friends—all happening in a casual space that truly does feel like your favorite local hangout.
Cherry’s On The Bay is perfect for keeping things relaxed, but it’s still festive enough for special occasions or just hanging out with friends.
Takumi Sushi Hibachi & Lounge
$$ | (934) 888-6888 | WEBSITE

Takumi Sushi Hibachi & Lounge is for Japanese dining enthusiasts who get excited about chef performances, perfectly prepared filet mignon, and choosing their hibachi table. Located in a Patchogue strip mall, this loud, lively spot offers a fun dining experience with impressive chef shows, and we say splurge on the filet mignon with shrimp.
It includes Takumi’s showiest dishes like smoky white rice paired with meals, fried calamari starters, and a beautiful hibachi spread dotted with sushi and miso soup.
Pecado Mexican
$$$ | (631) 992-7717 | WEBSITE

Tucked away in Bay Shore, Pecado Mexican feels like a vibrant fiesta hosted by a team that knows how to make guests feel at home, with servers who greet you like old friends and remember your favorite drinks. The authentic Mexican dishes at Pecado are as exciting to see arrive at your table as they are to eat, and even for someone who’s tried every taqueria in town, the menu (with most plates priced around $18-25) is full of reliable pleasures.
Expect things like fresh guacamole that’s beautifully presented, flavorful tacos with authentic seasonings, and coconut mojitos from Ramsey that taste like a tropical vacation. The desserts run a bit steep at $12-15 each, but the lively atmosphere and quick, friendly service make it easy to overlook—this is the kind of spot you’ll want to return to just to try more of what they’re serving.
Roadtrip
$$ | (631) 876-2530 | WEBSITE

To some, cocktail bars evoke images of moody, dimly lit spaces or drinks mixed by a bartender who moonlights as a philosopher. That’s not the case at Roadtrip, an American food joint with a rotating concept that’s made for laid-back, flavor-packed evenings. At this Bay Shore spot, you can drop about $15 on a stellar, expertly crafted cocktail that’s as inventive as it is delicious.
It’s as satisfying (and memorable) as it sounds, but so is everything else here, like the incredible, full-of-flavor food from the featured state of the week that arrives steaming and aromatic. You’ll probably need a moment after the meal to process the glorious amounts of flavor, creativity, and relaxation you’ve just experienced, but at least know in your heart that you got your evening’s worth (figuratively).
Le Dock
$$$ | (631) 583-5200 | WEBSITE

Le Dock is special. You’re here to eat the kind of elevated coastal cuisine you won’t find anywhere else on Fire Island. This waterfront gem comes from a team that understands how to create memorable experiences. So yeah, you’ll probably spend around $150 per person, but part of what you’re paying for is the seamless service. Their staff is so perfectly in sync, it’s as if their brains practically touch.
And now that the summer crowds have thinned, you can get their Korean fried chicken, sushi on crispy rice, and penne vodka with lobster without having to fight for a table. The olive oil cake is a must for dessert, and the bar’s cozy ambiance during happy hour makes the sunset view even more spectacular.
Sweet Jane
$$ | WEBSITE

Let’s get one thing out of the way: cocktails at this stylish Bay Shore bar will run you about $18 each. Minimum. That said, this new neighborhood spot isn’t some pretentious cocktail den—the music shifts from jazz to indie rock, and the bartenders won’t judge you for sticking with the classics. Sweet Jane’s menu stays consistent, but drinks we’ve enjoyed include the Deuce Deuce, a perfectly balanced sidecar, or a gin fizz with house-made syrup.
There’s nothing overly complicated or particularly groundbreaking about the cocktails at Sweet Jane—it’s just that everything you sip is essentially flawless.
Salt & Barrel
$$$ | (631) 647-8818 | WEBSITE

Salt & Barrel is a cozy restaurant that serves excellent food and drinks in a nice, warm atmosphere. Getting a table during happy hour is surprisingly easy, and the service is exceptional and attentive. You’ll sit in a comfortable booth or at a small table, and enjoy dishes like tuna tacos, burrata flatbread, and crab gnocchi. The food is superb and flavorful, with options ranging from artichoke salad to tarragon biscuits.
It’s all very relaxed and welcoming, but a meal here ends up being a bit pricey. There’s soft background music, which gives you the sense that you can chat freely. All of that, combined with the cost (around $75 per person before tax and tip), makes this a perfect spot for a celebration with friends.
Brazas Restaurant & Bar

Brazas can feel refreshingly straightforward at first with its clean dining room and staff efficiently serving large plates of hearty food. If you’re wary of fussy dining, know that dinner at this family-friendly spot in Bay Shore warms once the friendly host seats you near the bustling bar area.
The servers—who move with quick, attentive energy—check on tables like neighborhood friends, the occasional classic rock anthem might slip its way into the background music, and the overall atmosphere stays pleasantly casual. And importantly, the generous, well-executed menu lives up to the roughly $40–$50 per person price, with dishes like perfectly cooked steaks, fresh salads, and specialty cocktails that keep the experience fair and worth every dollar.
Verde Kitchen & Cocktails
$$ | (631) 665-6300 | WEBSITE

Thanks to its greenhouse setting and creative craft cocktails, Verde Kitchen & Cocktails is consistently one of the most difficult tables to secure in Bay Shore. You’ll strike out a few times (OK, you’ll strike out a lot of times), but take your cue from the regulars and keep checking for openings. This popular spot is still one of the premier dining experiences in the area, with excellent service to boot.
The menu features a range of tasty options that satisfy different cravings, which might include good steak options, chicken dishes, and the well-liked enchilada de pollo. Either way, be ready to dish out around $45 per person for it.
The Pizzeria of Bay Shore
$$ | (631) 686-3555 | WEBSITE

Let’s get straight to it: The Pizzeria of Bay Shore is by far the most affordable family-friendly spot in the area, and to eat here you’ll spend about $15 per person (which includes a generous pizza slice and a drink, plus tax and tip). Oh also, you can walk right in most nights because tables are plentiful. So what do you get for all that? Simply, one of the most satisfying, perfectly balanced casual dining experiences we’ve had in Bay Shore.
Highlights from our last visit include the fantastic Sicilian pizza with its crispy crust, the best chicken parm sandwich with vodka sauce, and the meatball burrata hero dripping with flavor.
