There are plenty of regrettable ways to burn through your paycheck: Another overpriced gym membership you’ll never use, perhaps, or a third streaming service for shows you’ll never watch. But here’s one expense that actually delivers joy—these 10 fast food spots in Quebec City where every dollar delivers genuine satisfaction.
Valentine
$ | (418) 977-0744 | WEBSITE

If you’re like us, you’re tired of waiting forever for your fast food, which is another reason why we love Valentine – the service is friendly and quick, which makes complaining practically impossible. Here, you’ll get your order, enjoy the consistently delicious food with its excellent presentation, and then maybe notice the occasional thoughtful touch, like a heart on the delivery bag.
Finish it off with whatever you ordered – it’s all good here, and we’d brave the occasional cold delivery for it alone.
Chungchun Kogo Coreen
$ | (418) 659-6666 | WEBSITE

This Quebec City Korean fast food joint is one of the coziest spots in town. But there’s a secret: They keep the kitchen open late for walk-ins, and if you swing by before closing, you can just walk in and grab a seat. Watching all those people who planned their meals hours ahead will make you feel like you’ve discovered a hidden gem when everyone else was still debating where to eat. And you’ll still feel like a winner when you sit down, and order a soda and the pogo coréen à la saucisse vegan.
The hardest part of this visit is deciding if you want the cheese pogo or the cinnamon donut for dessert. But don’t worry, there’s no wrong answer.
Pizza Ramos
$ | (418) 977-8200 | WEBSITE

For basically just being halal fast food, Pizza Ramos is pretty damn impressive. But you’ll know why when you go to this Quebec City spot that feels like a cross between a neighborhood pizza joint and a family-friendly cafe. You’ll want the Ramos Poutine from the menu, the Boeuf Burger with all the fixings, and the tuna pizza with crispy dough and fresh ingredients (which is exactly what it sounds like).
Most of the food comes from their carefully sourced halal ingredients, making it about as authentic as you could possibly get. Add in a kids eating chair and some books to read, and you’ll feel like you’ve found a hidden gem – if only for the meal.
Poulet Rouge
$ | (418) 621-7007 | WEBSITE

There’s a lot of really delicious chicken to eat at Poulet Rouge – like the tender chicken with rice, the flavorful miel chipotle with veggies, or the fresh salad. And you could order any of it and be happy. But what we really like to do here is grab a quick meal, get some chicken with rice and fresh veggies, and enjoy their super-friendly service. The staff are professional, and they keep the place clean even when busy. Will you notice the food is a little salty? Perhaps.
But you won’t care, especially after experiencing their pleasant atmosphere.
Restaurant Poulet Rouge Laurier Québec
$ | (418) 626-4905 | WEBSITE

Look – you once spent $25 on a soggy fast-food burger that left you hungry an hour later, so dropping that amount on incredible grilled chicken really doesn’t seem that bad. This bright, comfortable spot in Quebec City is the kind of healthy-casual restaurant you wish you could eat at every week. You’ll have things here like perfectly grilled chicken with that standout Volcano sauce, generous fresh salads that actually fill you up, and portions so large they’re perfect for sharing.
Throw in the exceptionally friendly and helpful service – prompt, fast, and genuinely kind – and you’ll feel like a very well-fed family member. And who’s to say you’re not?
Le Coin de la Patate
$ | (418) 847-0123 | WEBSITE

Forget fancy dining – sometimes, the best way to enjoy fries is to do it solo. We love to order a basket of golden fries, a generous helping of cheese, and a side of their signature sauce for ourselves, and Le Coin de la Patate is the perfect place for that kind of meal. Not only do they have some of the crispiest fries in the city, they’ve also got a cheese that makes a ‘SQUIK SQUIK’ sound we’d travel across town just to hear.
Those, along with a dip of their flavorful yet balanced sauce, will make this a meal you’ll remember for a long time to come.
Frite Alors! – Limoilou
$ | (418) 914-5986 | WEBSITE

There’s a full-sized Frite Alors! in downtown Quebec City now, but since you’re in Limoilou, you can go to the cozy (and much better) original location. A meal here feels like you’ve plopped down in the middle of Brussels, and not just because it features – and we don’t care if this sounds like hyperbole – the best Belgian fries we’ve ever tasted.
The space is small and lively, and the pulled pork burger is excellent: They’re not reinventing the wheel, it’s just a perfect burger with homemade BBQ sauce, and crispy, salty fries. We can’t think of a better way to treat ourselves.
Restaurant Normandin Hamel
$$ | (418) 877-1192 | WEBSITE

Fries and family. Family and fries. No matter what your top priority is, you’ll be very satisfied you visited Restaurant Normandin Hamel, the Quebec City fast food spot with breakfast and dinner options that’s the kind of straightforward, hearty meal it’s important to enjoy as often as you can.
Sit at one of the separate tables for larger groups, and the friendly, smiling staff will bring out delicious fries in front of you, along with some raw vegetables for the kids, and the diverse children’s menu (which doesn’t come with every meal, but should be considered anyway). The parking situation is also perfectly convenient – if you arrive during high traffic, the ample spaces accommodate your vehicle, but not in the stressful kind of way where you circle endlessly.
Casse-Croûte du Kent
$ | (418) 663-8674 | WEBSITE

You just got a bonus. And not just any bonus – the kind of bonus where you can say “F*ck it,” and head to Montmorency Falls to pretend you’re a tourist for a day. And while the tourists are probably eating at fancy spots, you know that you can find better fast food at Casse-Croûte du Kent, the roadside spot right near the falls behind a parking lot.
Come on the weekend, and you might be the only person sitting at the counter, but you’ll still get the full experience, including the Kent hamburger with fries, cheese curds, and poutine that tastes so satisfying you can practically hear it talking about Quebec winters. Add in some other sandwiches, and you’ll go a bit over $20 – but what else are you going to do with that bonus, save it?
McDonald’s
$ | (418) 871-5556 | WEBSITE

There aren’t many fast food joints where you’re better off going solo – but McDonald’s is one of them. It’s a familiar spot on a busy Quebec City street, but inside it feels a lot more like you’re stepping back to simpler times. You can grab a high chair for the kids, settle into one of the various seating options, and not worry about how you’re going to split an Oreo McFlurry two ways.
Watching the friendly staff like Jean-Daniel go above and beyond with that midnight service is a big part of the charm here – so sit back, relax, and enjoy the consistency. And the McPatch with BBQ sauce.
