Chop Stick
$ | (631) 586-8938 | WEBSITE

Chop Stick is a casual take-out spot with a dine-in option that was a pleasant surprise. With just a handful of tables, the Bay Shore operation is modest—but the food is not. On the Japanese-inspired menu, you’ll find garlic sauce that shines, salmon that’s fresh, and eel rolls that reach their full potential when paired with avocado. Order all of those things, but never skip the sesame chicken combination platter with pork fried rice.
The fried rice isn’t the typical yellow kind but a delicious dish with wok char, bright bean sprouts, and salty pork. Pan-fried dumplings also deserve praise for their authentic flavor and crispy bottom. At around $15-20 per platter, it’s a solid value for the bold flavors, though some note the containers are shallower than before. Still, when the kitchen is on, it’s a tasty and satisfying meal.

Thanks to Imperial Orchid, Bay Shore can claim some of Long Island’s best Chinese food. Their Peking duck is crispy and succulent, the General Tso’s chicken comes covered in a sweet-spicy sauce that pairs perfectly with fluffy white rice, and the Thai fried rice with pineapple and cashews is a must-order.
