Bridgeport’s Mexican restaurant scene stretches across neighborhoods from Black Rock to the East Side. That’s a lot of ground to cover. So when you’re craving authentic tacos al pastor, a perfect margarita with your enchiladas, or a family-run spot where the salsa recipe is a guarded secret, don’t just pick the place with the brightest neon sign. Let this 2026 guide point you toward the very best.
Super Taqueria Las Salsas
$ | (203) 534-8917 | WEBSITE

It’s hard to neatly categorize this spot among Bridgeport’s Mexican options. It’s a taqueria, but also a neighborhood hangout. It has classic tacos and burritos, but also standout chamorro and nachos with chorizo. We’ll just call it one of our favorite places to eat, relax, and forget about the clock. Grab a seat at one of the simple wooden tables, or at the counter where you can watch the tortillas being pressed, and chat with the owner about what salsas they’re recommending today.
Then pair a complimentary tostada—or a cold drink—with carne burrito that melts in your mouth or El Bukis with tender carnitas and piping hot tortillas, which has our vote for best value in Bridgeport.
Paraiso Restaurant
$ | (203) 382-9679 | WEBSITE

This family-friendly spot has serious Mexican cooking credentials. The tortillas are handmade daily, while the salsa is praised for its fresh, vibrant flavor. But what they’re doing together here is decidedly welcoming. You’ll find very good examples of near-authentic dishes, as well as more communal experiences, like karaoke nights that bring groups together. The service is quick, personable, and friendly, making it a great value. We don’t know why, but it’s fun.
La Mexicana Restaurant & Bakery
$ | (203) 690-1655 | WEBSITE

For about the price of a fancy coffee, one of the best deals in Bridgeport is the pozole at La Mexicana. Like the authentic Mexican restaurant it is, this spot serves a few different traditional dishes like sopes and other favorites. But as regulars will tell you, the main attraction is the hearty, flavorful stew with perfectly tender hominy. Even though a regular bowl is a generous portion, make sure to add a side of fresh tortillas to your order.
Garibaldi Restaurant
$ | (203) 362-1065 | WEBSITE

People come to this Bridgeport spot for all sorts of reasons: enjoying generous portions, catching up with family, and savoring authentic Mexican flavors (which is just another way of saying catching up with family). But the main reason to come is for the homemade pasta and Mexican dishes. The menu has everything from tasty tacos and beef soup to fresh tortillas made by hand, standout pasta, and the best Mexican food we’ve eaten in the neighborhood.
The ones made with homemade tortillas restore your faith in Connecticut’s Mexican food abilities.

Like a classic taqueria, this place works well for a quick lunch. It’s brightly-lit, and all the vibrant produce displays make you feel like you’re in a bustling mercado.

This is a cozy spot with a warm atmosphere, perfect for family gatherings or hanging out with friends. The staff is friendly and welcoming, making it a favorite spot for many. Customers love the Hawaiian Pizza and Steak Quesadilla with red and green sauce.

TuttiMango is where you should bring the family for fresh fruit and tasty treats after a day out in Bridgeport. This Mexican-inspired spot is filled with colorful fruit murals, the counter is decorated with vibrant tile patterns that look like traditional papel picado, and there’s always upbeat Latin music playing. La Fonda Restaurant
$$ | (203) 612-8840 | WEBSITE

Things unfold at a leisurely rhythm at La Fonda, a Mexican spot tucked into a Main Street strip mall. Folks wander in, order the seafood molcajete with homemade tortillas or maybe the birria tacos, and settle in for a while just to enjoy the vibe. The menu stays consistent, so you can always count on those excellent enchiladas de mole or nachos de carnitas. Two of our go-tos are the fish tacos and that standout flan, considered some of the best around.
You’ll notice several tables getting the molcajete to share, and you might want to follow suit.
Taqueria & Deli Taste of Tijuana
$ | (203) 572-0111 | WEBSITE

No matter when you visit, this popular Mexican spot is probably going to have a crowd. Luckily the service is quick, so come ready knowing what you’re craving. Aside from the birria quesadilla, a flavor bomb with crispy exterior and tender birria inside, this place also serves menudo and Cuban tortas, all made with homemade tortillas. Keep in mind it’s kid-friendly, and the staff are kind and friendly, making you feel at home.
Taqueria La Michoacana
$$ | (203) 366-6590 | WEBSITE

The staff at Taqueria La Michoacana want to make sure you’re happy, and this means they’ll let you try almost anything on the menu, as if you’re at a taco stand. Can’t decide between the Chicken Taco with Rice & Beans and the other options? A quick taste from a small sample plate, and you’ll know the clear answer is the chicken taco. You’ll have to decide on what extras you want too. We always go for the fresh limes and either the cilantro or onion.
There’s not much more to the space than a handful of tables and simple decor, and most people get their food to go.
Rico Mac Taco Truck
$ | (203) 290-8343 | WEBSITE

Take a cue from the truck, and get something (anything) with birria. For a quick and easy meal, go for the birria tacos seasoned with just a little salt, so you taste pure beef flavor. If you’re willing to get a little messy, the tacos el pastor with pineapple and onions are even better. You order at the window, and there’s a clean setup with a few picnic tables nearby, which feels slightly nicer than your average taco stand.
If it’s not too cold, order one of their horchata drinks on tap, and enjoy it at their simple outdoor seating area with some cheerful painted accents.
Mil Sabores Restaurant & Bar

Mil Sabores Restaurant & Bar is a bit of a flavor destination. Regulars settle in at the inviting bar for margaritas and there’s always a lively buzz. But don’t just come for the atmosphere, because they also have some of the best Mexican food in Bridgeport. We usually go for the birria tacos or the consommé, which is rich and savory with tender beef.
You can get those as a main course, but if you’re splurging, you can enjoy the meal in their chill, welcoming setting that’s perfect for friends or a solo visit.
