The breezy dining room is plenty cute—it was a corner cafe in a past life—but our favorite seats are on the string-lit patio surrounded by herb planters (with a margarita in hand).

That’s why the contrast between the unassuming exterior and superb authentic Mexican menu is so delightful—even more so when you realize most of the standout dishes are under $25, and the whole experience feels like a bargain.
Prioritize the huarache over the enchilada plate, the tacos with tender barbacoa or carnitas, and the menudo that’s cooked soft and flavorful with spicy green and red sauces. The menu features lots of seafood dishes like the popular seafood cake and sarandado octopus, but the star of the show is without question the octopus, a phenomenal dish that’s described as a ‘bomb of flavor.’ And if someone in your group prefers milder options, Costa Azul makes seafood dishes that are just as delicious as its bolder offerings, with very good seasoning and without excess salt.
