In Orland Park, Mexican cuisine isn’t just a meal—it’s a vibrant celebration. Whether you’re craving late-night tacos after catching a show at the Orland Park Theatre or planning a family feast with handmade tortillas fresh off the comal, these spots deliver authentic flavors that transport you straight to the heart of Mexico. Here’s where to find the most unforgettable Mexican dishes in town.
Casa Margarita

Honestly, I can drink my way through there, but then I would have to get wheeled out. Obviously, the mango margarita is insanely good. I love getting the carne asada plate. The refried beans, which you can spice up a bit…it’s one of my favorite things to eat. They just give you a huge portion, and this delicious, hearty, savory steak with beans, and it’s just out of this f*cking world, so good.
El Famous Burrito
$ | (708) 403-4661 | WEBSITE

It’s a classic spot for us when we’ve had a long, stressful day or a stressful weekend and we want to go to a place where you can have the most delicious Mexican food but also just hang out and chat with the staff. Everyone who works there is the friendliest. I’ll say this: you’re definitely not supposed to order the steak nachos at this place. But it’s perfect. Steak nachos you can get at any Mexican joint, any fast-casual spot.
But if you’re at El Famous Burrito and your server loves you…they’ll load you up a steak nachos.
S2 Express Grill
$$ | (708) 840-4171 | WEBSITE

Soul food just runs in my veins. It’s my comfort food through and through. I’m an Orland Park regular, a South Side native, and a true food lover. I’ve spent plenty of evenings at S2 Express Grill. It’s that genuine, down-home cooking. Just the way they prepare everything with care…it’s owner-operated, family-focused. The catfish dinner, that’s probably the best catfish dinner in town, in my book. It’s satisfying and tastes incredible. It’s cooked perfectly.
It’s just one of those staples of Orland Park.
El Mezcal Mexican Restaurant
$ | (708) 963-8600 | WEBSITE

It’s sort of like a flavor from my childhood. They call it a hidden gem in a gas station, so don’t skewer me—I know it’s unexpected, but it’s authentic. It’s a Mexican spot. El Mezcal is like the real deal of Orland Park, and they have these really amazing tacos del pescado that they serve up fresh and flavorful. That’s like a big flavor combination. So this is carne asada a la tampiqueña with all the fixings, camarones al mojo de ajo, and smooth horchata.
And we top it with the café de olla with hints of cinnamon and the breakfast burrito with hash browns.
Uncle Julio’s Orland Park
$$ | (708) 942-4700 | WEBSITE

Uncle Julio’s is the ideal Mexican restaurant. It checks all the boxes of a place that I want to be at and a place that I like. I want to bring my friends. I want to bring my family. I want to bring my girlfriend—like, anything. It fits every occasion because you can go there for a nice date night and have your amazing tacos and have a margarita and have whatever you want. You can have a nice, beautiful plate of fajitas.
Or you can go with a whole bunch of friends, fill up the table with fresh guacamole, flavorful dishes, all this stuff, and drink. So that’s why I just love that place. And the tacos are great.
Pueblito
$ | (708) 645-4841 | WEBSITE

There’s a little quarter-shaped, taco-shaped part of the menu. I think it’s between the fish and the shrimp. It’s just like, the top quarter of the seafood section. And the kitchen crew prepares them. They’ll grill them, and they’ll top them with Verde sauce with a little bit of lime. And they’re really, really delicious. It is the definition of authentic. It’s the definition of fresh.
It’s not always highlighted on the menu, but it’s one of my favorite things that I can experience at a restaurant because it’s just one of those fun, shareable things.
Burrito Jalisco
$ | (708) 873-1308 | WEBSITE

I think it’s the unsung hero of Orland Park Mexican. The waitress, [the staff], has been serving incredible, incredible piña coladas for a long time, and her salsa is all so uniquely her. She really digs into very fresh ingredients. She always makes an amazing atmosphere. Honestly, her spicy salsa that she serves is probably [in the] top 10 bites in Orland Park for me.
Mayan Palace
$$ | (708) 349-8339 | WEBSITE

I have a guacamole obsession. I got an avocado tattoo right on my forearm. I love guacamole—I’m a purist, some may say. But I think Mayan Palace’s guacamole, it’s just perfect. It’s texturally just right. It’s just the right amount of lime and the right amount of cilantro—fresh avocados and has the chips on the side. You can’t beat it. Especially for restaurant guacamole, I’ll definitely put it as one of the top guacamoles in Orland Park for sure.
Mama Maria’s Taco and Tequila Bar
$$ | (708) 403-3346 | WEBSITE

When I had the smash burger taco, it’s the perfect flavor explosion…there’s the crunch of the shell, and then it’s just perfectly seasoned. That smash burger taco is delicious. Me and my friends will often be driving around on a Friday night, finishing work, and heading out for drinks. We’re kind of in a hurry, and we just call Mama Maria’s up, and we’re 5 minutes away, and they’re like, ‘Hey, got it, no questions asked.’ We don’t even order, we don’t say what we want.
We’re just like, ‘Can you get us…the usual?’ And then we pull up, get the food real quick, say what’s up, give them a high-five, and peace out. And it’s always like the perfect start to our night.
Taqueria Los Comales Orland Park
$ | (708) 303-8400 | WEBSITE

We had these two drive-thru orders that, throughout the evening, we’d pick up. We’d call in before everybody else. And me and my friend would slide the white paper bags over, and I would hold the box of tacos in my hand. We’d just both eat it on the hood of the car. It’s one of the defining moments in our Mexican food runs—the marinated chicken tacos absolutely delicious, the steak perfectly seasoned, and that green salsa the best I’ve ever had.
The rice is very good, the horchata refreshing, though the Al Pastor tacos could use pineapple and the elote comes with very little topping. Prices run slightly high, but the service is efficient, the food clean and fresh, right by the door and wheelchair accessible.
