With a culinary tradition that features fiery scotch bonnets, fragrant epis seasoning, and a kitchen filled with generations of family recipes, Haitian cuisine is one of the most vibrant in the Caribbean. If you’re in the mood for something authentic, head to La Belle Haitienne.
The welcoming restaurant in Trois-Rivières might not transport you to Port-au-Prince, but it does boast generous portions of griot and goat tassot that, at least for a meal, will make you believe you’re dining in a Haitian home. It also counts loyal regulars who wait all year just to return, so watch your appetite—and the plantains.

McDonald’s is a Trois-Rivières institution, and if you think a few menu updates over the years have deterred the families from getting in on the action, you’re obviously unaware of just how much families love consistency. And honestly, can you blame them? The service is quick, the coffee is reliably good, and the atmosphere hasn’t changed much since they were kids.
It’s a triple-threat scenario for the practical, so as you’re enjoying some better-than-expected fries, stay alert—there are likely some smiling employees like Chloë, Odile, Martine, and Jessica looking to make your visit welcoming.

Opened as a cozy neighborhood spot in 2018 and quickly becoming a local institution, Eggspress is a charming lunch restaurant in Trois-Rivières, and a place where breakfast cravings can truly find satisfaction (the perfectly crispy bacon probably helps). The atmosphere is admittedly pretty simple, and the food isn’t much fancier than anything you’d find at a classic diner, but at the end of the day, a comforting meal is a happy meal.
So order some breakfast potatoes and an extra-cooked bacon plate and join the regulars.
Banh Thai Restaurant

On any given lunch hour at this Trois-Rivières favorite, you’ll see families, office workers on break, and various shoppers who just can’t give up the value—both regulars and newcomers. The place has a family-style atmosphere and is essentially a relaxed space with simple decor, warm lighting, and a welcoming environment. Several of those folks are enjoying generous portions daily, to be sure. As for food, don’t get fancy.
This is the kind of place where you eat big plates of mango salad with chicken and several orders of pad thai with shrimp, beef, or chicken.

It’s common knowledge that wood-fired cooking creates an exceptionally cozy atmosphere, so don’t be surprised if you feel completely at home at Au Four à Bois. This Trois-Rivières favorite has been serving hearty meals for years, and these days feels like the dining room of a rustic countryside inn. There are warm spaces filled with the aroma of baking pizza, generous tables, and plates of lamb risotto arriving at just the right temperature.
It’s a classic Quebec dining experience and one that will only be enhanced by the friendly staff moving through the room.

In the unlikely event you haven’t tried A&W Canada, we’ll let you in on a secret: families with children love a quick meal. And while A&W Canada in Trois-Rivières isn’t technically fine dining, it does offer excellent service and delicious food at a good value. The team is friendly and attentive, with specific mentions of exceptional service from a team member named Morgan. They are professional, smiling, and accommodating, making it a great place for a casual outing.
Needless to say, this is prime burger territory. Stay alert as you enjoy great flavors and quick service in the bright, welcoming space. And if the staff insists that, actually, you’ve been having a delightful dining experience this whole time, time to ask for the check.
Restaurant Normandin Trois-Rivières

This family-friendly restaurant in Trois-Rivières has been serving good and hot food for years, but the menu itself has a much deeper evolution—all the way back to recent improvements that have greatly enhanced the offerings. Needless to say, these tables have seen some family-adjacent things, and if you keep your eyes peeled as you eat a poutine smoked-meat and some of the excellent lunches, you probably will too.
Cambodiana

Perhaps it’s the steam rising from the Bangkok soup bowls, or the way the servers glide between tables with impossible grace, but the atmosphere inside Cambodiana has always felt a bit magical. In the likely event of a craving, don’t plan on ordering just one dish, however, because you can’t—this Trois-Rivières Asian spot is generous and abundant, and that tom yum isn’t sharing its spotlight with anybody.
So just take a deep breath and offer that insatiable appetite some fresh rolls and a spoonful of your soup. That’s what it came back for anyway.
Rôtisseries Ti-Coq (Centre-ville)

This Trois-Rivières mainstay has been crisping chickens since who knows when, and therefore, is the recipient of our Highest Probability Of Getting A Generous Portion That Will Haunt Your Refrigerator For Days Award. In truth, Rôtisseries Ti-Coq is filled mostly with locals grabbing a quick, reliable bite and food that hasn’t needed to change much since they nailed the recipe, but if you leave here still hungry, you can only blame yourself.
The rotisserie chicken is some of our favorite in town, the staff all still hustle with efficient, no-nonsense service. Plus, there’s a clean, no-frills dining area in the back if you want to sit down with your perfectly cooked bird, though you might have to ask for proper cutlery.
Le Gaufré 1908

Serving up delightful waffles since 1908, this downtown Trois-Rivières spot is a place where you’ll find stories baked right into the historic walls. The charming space has been welcoming hungry visitors for generations, so whichever day you visit, you’ll likely be dining in a room full of history—even if you can’t see it all. As for the food, it’s in the name: waffles with various toppings.

Either way, find a comfortable table, order a veggie burger with a dealcoholized beer, and wait for the next friendly staff recommendation to make your evening.

This popular Greek restaurant is located in the heart of Trois-Rivières, offering an experience that balances lively energy with genuine hospitality. Evenings include everything from perfectly cooked shrimp to juicy chicken dishes to chocolate mousse cake that’ll have you believing in dessert heaven again.
It’s one of our favorite places for a night out in Quebec, and even if the décor isn’t anything extraordinary, you’ll be more than satiated with generous portions and professional service.
Poivre Noir

But not at Poivre Noir in Trois-Rivieres, where every bite here is a bold declaration from a chef obsessed with local terroir. This elegant, riverside temple of gastronomy is where you go when you’re tired of Quebec’s predictable bistro fare and need to taste something transcendent. Or at the very least, something meticulously sourced.
There are stunning water views through floor-to-ceiling windows, a wine list that doesn’t feature anything less than exceptional Quebec vintages, and beef cheek on the menu that you’re positive will redefine your standards. It does—and so does every other sophisticated plate.
Dairy Queen (Treat)

It takes one glance at the glowing sign to remember that this classic ice cream spot is a supporting player in countless summer memories. Open since well before anyone worried about calories, Dairy Queen clearly doesn’t have the most sophisticated desserts in town, but if you’re coming here for artisanal gelato, you’ve got the wrong place.
You’re here because the Blizzard with Oreos and chocolate fudge is the creamiest and the bright dining area is always one spoonful away from someone breaking into a smile. And you better believe the treats here like to get a little messy.
