Most things lean hearty, like the popular beef catering kits or the Chocolate Cake Shack loaded with cake pieces, but there are efficient online ordering options if you’re looking for convenience (or just a break from the counter). The $18.99 lunch special offers coconut shrimp that’s always a crowd-pleaser. We also love their Bloomin’ Onion, since the batter is always fried just right with a crispy crunch. Friendly, attentive staff like Tim and Eve keep this place humming, making great recommendations for regulars from across the dining room.
There are only a couple of special options—the pick 3 with French Onion soup, grilled shrimp, and fries—and both are worth trying even if you’re full (which you probably will be).
Crazy Pour Sports Bar

Those are usually solid, and so is the pizza, especially on Thursdays when it’s half price, plus standout dishes like the Enzo beef roll and the Sunday burger special. (Our server’s recommendation, not ours). Try to snag a booth near the back, where it’s a bit easier to hear your friends over the energetic crowd.
Lunar Brewing Co

The selection rotates extremely often, but you’ll find things like hazy IPAs with citrus notes, where the crisp hops come from Midwest farms, or smooth stouts using malts from regional suppliers.
The beer list is what makes it a casual night staple, though: they have a bunch of pours from styles you won’t typically find in chain bars. Plus, they’re always hosting tasting events—and yes, they’re called Brewmaster Thursdays—so you can get access to hard-to-find releases.
El Barrio III Mexican Bar & Grill

The staff is always friendly and helpful, guiding you through the menu with genuine patience. In the dining room, the atmosphere is clean and comfortable, with warm lighting that makes it perfect for both quick meals and celebrations. You can bring a group of twelve or more, and they’ll happily arrange special setups for birthdays.
The $1 tacos on Mondays and Tuesdays are small but hot, fresh, and delicious—pair them with the outstanding margaritas and the flavorful hot sauce. The vegetarian enchiladas are a standout, and the warm chips come with jalapenos and carrots as a nice bonus. Grab a booth near the window where you can watch the parking lot fill up and feel that, suddenly, a great meal doesn’t seem so hard to find.
Tavern On North / Trackside OTB
This sprawling sports bar with its big outdoor fireplace is usually packed, which is great if you want to feel the game-day energy or have an excuse to high-five strangers. (If you’d rather avoid that, try the OTB section where it’s more on the quiet side.) The extensive menu has things like Johnnie’s beef eggrolls with marinara and giardiniera and a double pub burger with Cajun fries, most of which are easy to share with a group.
Naturally, the beers are plentiful, and there are solid choices, like the honey barbecue and mango habanero wings. The large bar area with every sport playing on TV is an ideal spot to watch solo, but we also like bringing some friends to pick at a southwest crispy chicken wrap before catching the horse races or the big game.
Hyderabad House

When Hyderabad House opened in Villa Park, it brought a taste of authentic Hyderabadi cuisine to the suburbs—but the area had quite a few Indian spots before. Order the butter chicken or chicken biryani on a warm plate and grab a seat at a comfortable table on the spacious outdoor patio. The menu focuses on Hyderabadi specialties, and you’re welcome to stick with familiar dishes (which is a good idea for those new to the cuisine).
Still, you’d be remiss not to try the Marag or the Paya nahari for some depth. Adjacent to the dining area, and also part of the experience, is the ambient lighting and clean setting that makes diners feel at ease. Because this is also a popular spot for events and gatherings, some people arrive with groups or for celebrations.
