There are a couple of things that strike us each time we find ourselves at Outback. One is that, even though they have excellent cheese fries—seriously, the best we’ve ever had—steak really isn’t the only star here; this place serves some of the most consistently good, familiar American fare in town.
The other thing is how comfortably we can settle in and think about the simple pleasures: our next bite of perfectly grilled chicken and which friendly server, like William or Melissa, will check on us next. When you’re here, go for the lobster—it’s cooked just right, tender and flavorful, paired wonderfully with a side of steamed broccoli. Plus, with most of the menu priced around $25, your main dish will likely cost less than the cheerful, welcoming atmosphere you’re soaking in.

There’s only one steakhouse serving perfectly cooked lamb chops and wings with a Wild West Shrimp appetizer while maintaining a warm, inviting atmosphere, and that’s Fort Lauderdale’s LongHorn Steakhouse. The rustic-yet-modern spot is laidback, to say the least—there’s a cool ambiance even during busy times and consistently clean bathrooms—but they take their food seriously.
The friendly, knowledgeable staff talks about grilling the asparagus just right, loading the mashed potatoes with just enough flavor, and why the Chocolate Stampede makes the perfect decadent treat. The result is exceptional, memorable dishes—like the surprisingly good chicken option—that you won’t find at other steakhouses in town.
