There are dozens of creative sushi rolls and dishes at Tokio Pub, but if anything’s a must-order at this serene sushi bar in Schaumburg, it’s the filet mignon. Our absolute favorite thing here is the seared salmon, a fresh sushi option that’s topped with a light glaze. The conveyor belt also has a bunch of other great things on it, like eel, custom-ordered plates, and small portions perfect for sharing.

While we do enjoy the maki rolls at this Schaumburg sushi spot, the real MVP is the sushi and sashimi platter for two. This platter is a little fresh and a little generous, with some salmon teriyaki, well-made rolls, and amazing flavors to round things out. Sushi Tsuki is an extremely cozy spot with a serious family outing operation, and you probably aren’t going to spend more than $25 on a meal here.

As the name suggests, this place specializes in sushi, specifically a roll called the Fire Phoenix that’s one of our single favorite things to eat in Schaumburg. It arrives beautifully presented, with fresh fish, some vegetables, a heap of rice, and a side of exceptional eel sauce to dip everything in. Come here with your family when you’re looking for an affordable and professional experience.
Daruma Restaurant

When Daruma Restaurant opened, they served fresh Japanese dishes, and though they have many options now, their greatest hit still remains. All you’ll need to do is choose between the Daruma Don (loaded with tuna and salmon) or the tempura set (perfectly fried shrimp and vegetables), and then wait for your generous bowl, with sushi rice that glistens with vinegar, and slabs of sashimi hiding in between the pickled ginger.
Torizen

For authentic Japanese comfort food, there’s no better option than Torizen. The thick tonkatsu is breaded into big, juicy pieces. We prefer the Hirekatsu Don, but you can also get the Agedashi Tofu. If you’re going to try another dish here that doesn’t involve noodles, it should be the Daikon Salad. The slightly tangy dressing has just a little bit of crunch from the fresh vegetables and sesame seeds.
