If you’re exploring Miami Beach, a day soaking up sun and admiring art deco facades likely fills your plans. This vibrant stretch, nestled between South Beach and Mid-Beach, has seen a culinary evolution, now boasting more authentic Thai kitchens than ever. Here’s where to savor a fiery curry, linger over a leisurely lunch, or enjoy a vibrant dinner before strolling to nearby beachside bars.
Siam Rice Thai & Sushi Restaurant
$ | (305) 758-0516 | WEBSITE

Siam Rice might be a Thai and sushi spot, but the vibrant energy buzzing through the cozy dining room will transport you straight to Bangkok. They make one of the best Tom Yum noodle soups in the city, and while that should definitely be part of your order, what you’re really coming here for is the perfectly cooked Pad Thai, glistening with tamarind and peanuts.
It’s a dish that shines on the menu, so grab a seat, order at least one Pink Lychee Boba with fresh strawberries or a glass of something crisp, and settle in for a leisurely meal of savoring the fresh, delicious flavors while the friendly staff ensures everything is just right.
Sawaddee Thai & Sushi Restaurant
$$ | (305) 866-8111 | WEBSITE

This cozy Thai spot has been a local favorite for years, and it’s always a reliable place to stop for dinner after exploring the vibrant streets of Miami Beach. If you can, grab one of the tables near the window to watch the neighborhood bustle, and plan your evening over a bowl of their famous seafood soup, some spicy edamame, and a plate of fried rice. They also do comforting classics like a wonderful Tom Yum soup that’s rich with flavor.
Whatever you decide, finish with their homemade dessert special.
Malakor Thai Isaan
$$ | (786) 558-4862 | WEBSITE

Not much has changed since Malakor Thai Isaan opened in Coral Gables. There are still colorful Thai decorations on the walls, a beautiful water serpent mural that keeps Miami feeling worlds away, and the cozy atmosphere even though the vibe is fairly low-key. The food is authentically Northern Thai like an outstanding papaya salad and a red curry chicken with the perfect ratio of spices to coconut milk.
You’ll probably see the staff serving guests while showcasing the true flavors of Thailand, and there won’t be a ton of alcohol options (since they don’t serve it, though Prosecco and Thai beer are available, that is).
Papercrane Asian Bistro :: Origin Asian Bistro
$ | (305) 365-1261 | WEBSITE

Generally speaking, Miami Beach regulars are loyal to the Thai spot they’ve been visiting for years, but this Key Biscayne gem has earned a warm welcome from locals. Order your dishes one at a time, starting with the shrimp spring rolls followed by a round of the pad Thai—the noodles are slightly undercooked in the best way—or the shrimp scampi and a fresh sashimi mori (we like the dragon roll with its perfect balance).
The vibe is welcoming and relaxed, with beautiful outdoor seating creating a lovely atmosphere. Just don’t sit too close to the kitchen—otherwise, you’ll definitely leave craving more of that green curry chicken.
KITSUNE HOUSE
$ | (786) 534-2768 | WEBSITE

This restaurant tucked inside a gallery is one of just a few Thai spots in Downtown Miami, but the real selling point of Kitsune House is the menu’s street food vibe. Dishes like chicken lo mein get an extra kick from smoky wok flavor and crispy orange chicken uses a touch of spice. Go to town on the noodles—especially the perfectly cooked chicken Pad Thai with tofu and vegetables—and the lunch specials, which include miso soup, egg drop soup, and a refreshing honey garlic chicken with broccoli.
Come for lunch to hide from the crowds on the main streets, and don’t be surprised if the super nice staff who doubles as servers comes over to chat.
KINOKO Sushi Bar & Asian Cuisine
$$ | (305) 397-8424 | WEBSITE

KINOKO Sushi Bar & Asian Cuisine is part of the same group as several other Asian spots in Miami Beach, and we’ve found that this sushi bar has more available seating—especially if you visit during off-peak hours—and the sushi is just as fresh. Even though their tempura and curry dishes are excellent, come for the inventive sushi rolls.
Conveniently, KINOKO is also situated in a prime Miami Beach location, which makes it an ideal spot to enjoy a meal before or after exploring the area, with both indoor and outdoor seating offering a relaxing atmosphere perfect for adults and business outings.
Ricky Thai Bistro
$$ | (305) 891-9292 | WEBSITE

This popular Thai bistro recently expanded in north Miami, adding a modern touch while keeping its cozy atmosphere. Go for the authentic flavors, then grab a table and order the Drunken Noodle with pork, a must-try dish prepared traditionally and bursting with fantastic taste. Our favorite is the duck with green curry, which comes with tender meat and a rich, aromatic sauce. Add an order of spring rolls for the table, which come with a sweet chili dipping sauce.
And, if you’re in the area, take advantage of the walk-up window for fresh, made-to-order takeout.
Atchana’s Homegrown Thai Restaurant
$$ | (305) 774-0404 | WEBSITE

Atchana’s Homegrown Thai may just be the most authentic Thai spot in all of Miami Beach. It’s tucked away in a cozy, recently renovated bungalow in Coconut Grove, and most of this place is filled with warm, inviting light. That atmosphere makes it perfect for a casual date, a family meal, or a group dinner that stretches into a relaxed evening.
Most of the traditional Thai dishes are prepared with care, with standouts like the Khai Soi with its rich, aromatic broth, the Khao Sox Gai with its flavorful and dense curry, and a welcoming service that should be bottled and sold everywhere.
Thanon Khao San (Former Bangkok Bangkok II)
$$ | (305) 444-2397 | WEBSITE

No Miami Beach Thai food guide would be complete without Thanon Khao San, a quintessential authentic restaurant that prioritizes using the best ingredients it can get. There are now many more Thai spots nearby and others throughout Coral Gables, but this charming location on Giralda Ave is the only place where you can enjoy your meal while sitting on cushions on the floor. Order some flavorful massoman curry, one of their excellent pad Thai dishes, or the red curry with duck.
Vegetarian options are plentiful, and the staff is accommodating and friendly. The crowds used to be substantial when they first opened as Bangkok Bangkok II, but now it’s fairly easy to get a table for lunch or dinner.
Khaosan Road Coral Gables
$$ | (305) 444-2397 | WEBSITE

There are a lot of Thai restaurants in Miami Beach, but if you’re looking for one with palpable authenticity, head to Khaosan Road. The simple tables and non-pretentious decor might make you think it’s been around for a while, but this peaceful spot in Coral Gables has been serving vibrant culture since it opened. Low lights are ideal for taking turns romantically sopping up whatever yellow chicken curry sauce is left on your shared plate of pad Thai.
It can be tough to snag a table, so if you don’t see a reservation, show up early for dinner with a big smile on your face and a not-so-large group for your best chance of getting a seat.
Panya Thai Restaurant
$$ | (305) 945-8566 | WEBSITE

When it arrived on the scene, Panya Thai was one of Miami Beach’s first authentic Thai spots. And while plenty have popped up around town since, it’s managed to keep its charm. Their pad thai is partly to blame. So is their Thai red curry with chicken. Plan on ordering more than just those classics from the menu, though. For starters, we especially like the papaya salad served with a tangy lime dressing. Or, if you’re here for something heartier, opt for the equally excellent wonton soup.
This isn’t your typical small-portions affair, so come hungry and digest with a stroll along the beach after your meal.
DAEK THAI EATERY
$$ | (786) 636-6196 | WEBSITE

After establishing itself as a Thai favorite, this eatery continues to draw crowds with its vibrant culinary approach. The space is modern and welcoming, with plenty of seating for groups and a layout that encourages sharing. Come ready to explore and with a few companions, and plan on passing around family-style plates of steamed prawn dumplings, crispy duck salad, pad Thai with perfect texture, red curry with just the right kick, and a generous portion of crab fried rice.
Lung Yai Thai Tapas
$$ | (786) 334-6262 | WEBSITE

A couple of Thai expats who missed the street food of Bangkok opened this tiny tapas spot after they’d had enough of the touristy Thai joints in Miami. It has bright walls, a small counter with just a handful of seats, and not one fancy table setting in sight. Plan on coming early for dishes like the crispy mushroom appetizer and khao soy, since this place gets more crowded as the evening goes on.
And keep an eye on their limited menu for specials like the Panang curry and crab fried rice, which disappear fast once they’re gone.
Asian Thai Kitchen 2
$ | (305) 646-2999 | WEBSITE

Tucked away in Little Havana, this tiny Thai spot is essentially a takeout counter with just two seats for eating in. A meal here feels like you’re in the kitchen of a passionate home cook, watching the owner and cooks prepare each dish with care. The menu stays consistent, but you’ll definitely want things like the very good and flavorful Thai curry, fresh spring rolls, or crab rangoon.
You can certainly pick your own dishes, but we recommend trusting the staff’s suggestions, which will certainly include generous portions of their spiciest, most flavorful options.
